Aww, and they were so full of promise...

Well, the brown rice and hijiki onigiri were a complete bust. 




You could see them pulling apart even before they were ready to flip over, so I certainly did *something* wrong, though who knows what. They fell to pieces when I tried to turn them over during their grilling...




Maybe I used the wrong type of brown rice, or maybe they were too hot/cold/dry/whatever. I'll have to look over the recipe again to see if it's something obvious.  Takes too much time to make them. Cook the rice. Reconstitute the seaweed. Simmer the seaweed with its flavoring sauce. Mix both together. Make into 6 balls. Wrap balls tightly in Saran Wrap and let sit a bit. Heat griddle. Fry for at least 10 minutes per side. See what I mean? Over an hour of prep for what, seaweed and brown rice? 
No one's going to want that. Well, can't win every time.
